Choose One Image Artist and Describe Their particular Work and Why You want It.

I have chosen to look at Arthur Rackhams's job because I actually recognised his illustrations of Alice in Wonderland which were in a publication I browse when I was younger. I really like the strange technique he uses which will really get the fairy tale theme of his works. I believe his pictures are very interesting because they are gorgeous and very in depth. Also, his style is from a time long past that is rarely seen today.

Arthur Rackham's illustrations are relevant to my work since they reflect scenes via stories and fairy stories. His performs have illustrated Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Fairy Tales in the Brothers Grimm amongst others that happen to be fictional stories coming from the imagination of the authors. Arthur Rackham has also sketched many pictures of fairies, mermaids, werewolves and forest which as well relate to the title of ‘Twisted Tales'.

Rackham's illustrations can be recognised simply by his attribute use of series and interpretation of fairy tale creatures. The graceful and flowing dog pen lines softened by the use of watercolour, is a style that Rackham made himself and it is often identified as a fusion of the north European design and the Japanese woodblock tradition. To finish an illustration he would drawing the outline before adding the designs and specifics. Then he'd go over the lines applying pen and ink. To develop coloured pictures he used washes of colour to make a translucent effect.

Throughout his lifetime and Rackham was highly praised for his illustrations wonderful works are becoming even more well-known now, following his loss of life. The woodlands he created had huge, almost distressing roots and leering looks and having been able to make a balance between plain and overly gaudy fairies. He has been described as ‘the leading decorative illustrator of the Edwardian period' and a learn of ‘imagination, draftsmanship and colour-blending'.
